Pressure Washer Attachment Recalled Due to Laceration Risk

Posted on July 22, 2011

Homelite Comsumer Products Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, announced in a news release Thursday, that the company is recalling attachments for the Homelite Pressure Washer Surface Cleaner due to a risk of breakage that can damage the unit and pose a laceration hazard to consumers.

The nozzle and spray bar of the attachment can break and detach from the unit, potentially hitting or breaking the unit’s plastic housing. The broken plastic housing, spray bar or nozzle can hit consumers, possibly cutting them.

The recall affects approximately 40,000 units in the United States and 1,200 units in Canada; the attachments were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores nationwide. The recalled attachments are drum-shaped, were sold in red and orange colors, and have hexagonal brass-colored nozzles housed inside a 15-inch plastic drum that holds the spray bar.

The affected attachments were sold together with Homelite pressure washer models HL80833 and HL80835 and separately as EZ Clean model AEZ231022 and as Powercare model AP31022A.

Any consumer who has purchased a recalled attachment should stop using the unit immediately and contact Homelite to receive a free replacement attachment.

As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney, I encourage any consumer who has purchased the recalled power washer attachment to stay safe by following the manufacturer’s recommendation to stop using the product and arrange to receive a replacement.
