Bikes Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

Posted on September 22, 2011

Bridgeway International, in cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, has issued a recall for their bicycles due to a fall hazard, according to news sources.

About 91,000 products are affected by this recall. The product is the “NEXT” men’s 26-inch hybrid bikes, which are red or orange in color. The frame bears the words “Power X” and “Suspension”. The model numbers affected are LBH2611M and LBH2611M2, which can be found in between the pedals of the bike.

The hazard has to do with the bike chain, which can break and cause a rider to fall. The company has received 11 complaints, nine of which reported injuries such as contusions and lacerations.

The bikes were sold at Walmart for about $100 from February to July 2011.

Consumers have been advised to contact the company to arrange for a replacement chain and repair.
