Bunk Beds Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

Posted on September 20, 2011

American Woodcrafters, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, has issued a voluntary recall of some of their products due to a fall hazard, according to news sources.

The products subject to recall are the Wood Twin Bunk Beds and Loft Bunk Beds. About 180 were sold all over the United State from October 2010 through June 2011 for $600-$1,000.

The issue is with the guard rails that frame the top bed. These rails have reportedly been shown to crack, which causes the mattress and its support rails to collapse. The company has received two reports of this occurring, though no one was injured.

The beds come in a twin-over-twin design as well as a twin-over-double bed loft design. The SKU number attached t the headboard or footboard is 1800-977 or 1800-969 with a PO number of 103276, 103432, or 300038.

Consumers who have purchased one of these products can contact their furniture dealer or American Woodcrafters for a free replacement of the defective guard rails.

At our Los Angeles personal injury attorney law firm, consumer safety is our number one priority. This recall is a particular concern to me because I know these products are often used by children. I know that even with all of the rules and regulation imposed on product manufacturers things can still go wrong and sometimes companies even put profit before safety. If you or a loved one has been affected by a defective product please do not hesitate to call a product liability attorney right away. The longer you wait the more chance you have of losing evidence for your potential product liability case.
