Organic Eggs Recalled Due to Salmonella Threat

Posted on October 24, 2011

Organic eggs distributed by Larry Schultz Organic Farm of Owatonna are being recalled due to a positive test for Salmonella Enteritidis, , according to recent news sources.

Six illnesses are being investigated by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and the Minnesota Department of Health in relation to the egg recall. The people sickened were affected from August 12 to September 24. All have recovered, though three were hospitalized.

Two other states outside of Minnesota affected were Wisconsin and Michigan. The eggs were sold under the brand names Lunds & Byerly’s Organic, Kowalski’s Organic, and Larry Schultz Organic Farm.

Consumers who are in possession of the eggs can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I have seen food recalls like this one and know that, with as much testing goes into food products before manufacturers send them to market, mistakes can and will still be made. Although the product defect lawyer at our law firm does not handle these type of cases there are food recall lawyers out there that can help you or a loved one if you have been affected by a recall such as this one. I hope no one else will be sickened by the contaminated eggs.
