Drop-sided Cribs Allegedly Banned

Posted on November 3, 2011

The Dutailier Group along with U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall for their drop-side baby cribs. It’s not the first time a drop-side crib is recalled due to the possible entrapment and strangling hazards it poses to infants, various news sources have reported. According the report by the USCPSC, there are 440 cribs sold nationwide that need to be fixed by the Dutailier Group.

According to the article, there were 16 complaints reported in which the side slats came detached from the top and bottom of the rails in the crib. No injury claims have been found in the reports. After the last recalls and the USCPSC continuing warnings related to the dangers in drop-side baby cribs, the commission has banned the sale of any similar product in the future.

Owners of the crib manufactured by the Dutailier Group must contact the company so repair kits will be shipped in a timely manner. For the time being, the crib should not be used until it’s completely fixed.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer I hope no manufacturer will produce this allegedly dangerous type of item in the future. Keeping our children safe should be a priority to crib-makers and retailers alike. In the case you find yourself struggling with a personal injury caused by a product defect, contact a personal injury attorney in your area right away.
