Murray Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Cookies Recalled Due to Undeclared Allergen

Posted on November 18, 2011

According to recent articles, the Murray Biscuit Company has issued an allergy related recall for Murray Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Cookies. The recall was necessary since the ingredients listed on the label do not mention the existence of pecans in the cookies. Many individuals who are highly allergic to nuts may fall ill after unknowingly consuming the mislabeled items.

According to the early announcement and the FDA website, this product was shipped to four states and although only 12 cases were allegedly mislabeled, the company is recalling over 900 cases shipped to Alabama as a precautionary measure.

Consumers who are allergic to pecans should be aware of the UPC code of the recalled product, it reads 82011 91335. Up to this moment, there haven’t been any reports of illnesses related to this recall except for one notification coming from a consumer who wasn’t allergic to nuts but realized the problem and promptly contacted the company responsible for the cookies.

As a Los Angeles wrongful death attorney I urge all consumers who happen to have a threatening allergy to be highly aware of the products you purchase. Make sure you’ve examined what it is you’re consuming thoroughly before actually ingesting anything.

Personal injury lawyers could be extremely handy when it comes to doubts regarding your personal injury case. Do not hesitate in contacting a professional whenever you feel a third party or company has treated you unfairly.
