Nursing Home Patients being Neglected, Authorities Issue Citations

Posted on November 2, 2011

It has been reported by the news that the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in the State of Michigan has issued two citations to nursing homes that have violated regulations. Reports indicate that two elderly women under the care of these facilities presented serious signs of neglect.

According to the article, some other neglected patients demonstrated total immobility and absolute lack of hygiene, they allegedly refused to take showers claiming that the process was too painful. Another patient was discovered to have an alleged hip fracture that went undiagnosed for an unknown amount of time causing her a huge deal of pain. After the reports were issued, a watchdog is investigating closely.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated event. Reports of breaches in the regulation of nursing homes nationwide prove to be more common than we wish they would.

As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney, I sincerely hope that all of those involved in the case of neglect reported in this article will recover under the great care of true professionals who are dedicated to their work and patients. Whenever you find yourself or a loved one under a situation where the presence of a personal injury lawyer is imperative, do not delay.
