Ready Pac Foods Issues a Recall For Salad Cases, E. Coli Contamination Risk

Posted on November 17, 2011

Many news outlets have announced that the Ready Pac Foods, Inc. from Irwindale, CA is recalling over 5,300 cases of salads. These items contain Romaine lettuce that might present a health risk to consumers. According to the announcements from the FDA, the recalled item may be contaminated with E. coli.

The bacteria E. coli may cause diarrheal illnesses and may pose highly risky threats for those with a weak immune system.

According to medical reports, healthy adults can recover from this contamination within a week, but some people can develop a kidney failure disease called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome when they consume a product infected with E. coli. This kidney condition can cause severe damage to the individual’s health.

The recalled items were allegedly sold to Oregon, California, Texas, Hawaii, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho and Washington.

The reports have showed that no other products from this manufacturer were recalled and no illnesses have been claimed to be the result of the consumption of the contaminated boxes of salad.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer I urge all consumers to stop using the products that have been recalled. Always stay alert when it comes to food recalls, you might be consuming something that is contaminated. Personal injury lawyers should always be ready to assist anyone who has been the victim of a contaminated item, the faster the victim contacts a lawyer the better.
