According to various news sources, the company Kimberly-Clark that manufactures the Kotex Natural Balance feminine products has issued a recall for the items that have been distributed to Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, New Mexico and Texas
The product that carries the name Kotex Natural Balance* Security Unscented Tampons Regular absorbency and the codes 15063 and 15068 are the ones being recalled. The FDA has also announced the recall and has issued a report in their website.
Reports show that tests helped them to realize that the product was contaminated because it was produced with raw material. The lack of inspection may have been a facilitator in the alleged contamination. The bacterium that has everybody worried is the Enterobacter Sakazakii. This contaminated product may cause urinary tract infections, pelvic inflammatory illnesses etc. Women with a weak immune system are more susceptible to this contamination.
