Great American Opportunities, located in Nashville, Tennessee, has announced a voluntary recall of its Arena Lamp, due to an electrical shock risk. Arena Lamps are also known as Arena Light Kaleidoscopes, Disco Lights, and Disco Light Projectors, and units affected by the recall bear model number 3007952 on their original packing materials. The lamp projects multicolored luminous orbs on flat surfaces through a round hole in the front, and the unit is encased in a 9-inch by 5-inch by 5 inch rectangular silver box featuring two columns of ventilation slots and a silver handle which halfway encompasses the entire unit. The base holds a circular ventilation fan, and the lamp’s rear features a power switch, an electrical cord, and a knob labeled “fuse.” A design and manufacturing defect can potentially cause the electrical cord to become unattached from the unit inside of the lamps metal casing, putting the consumer at a risk of electric shock. The lamps, manufactured in China, were given to schools and other community organizations for use in fundraising activities, and they also retailed for between $5 and $10 at temporary party warehouse businesses located in Bloomington, Illinois; Conyers, Georgia; and Chattanooga and Nashville, Tennessee.
