More recall news to share with you today, this time regarding a defective line of trucks.
McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing has announced a recall of 111 Autocar ACX trucks of the 2012 model year. The specific vehicles affected were produced between March 17, 2011 and February 10 of this year. An issue could arise wherein the brakes do not get applied properly, increasing the likelihood that a crash could occur.
This issue stems from the refuse truck manufacturing process. During this process, the tag axle often has to be removed. A couple of air lines then need to be reinstalled in the proper position. If this proper positioning fails to occur, the axle brakes do not function correctly. When the tag axle is lifted, then the brakes are applied, but when this axle is lowered, the brakes don’t work.
Owners can expect so start hearing from McNeilus starting some time around March 15. At that point, persons can have their vehicle inspected and have repairs made at no cost to the consumer.
