PSBR’s Brian Panish and Rahul Ravipudi Named Top Plaintiff Lawyers by Daily Journal

Posted on June 8, 2022

Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP partners Brian Panish and Rahul Ravipudi have been named by Daily Journal as Top Plaintiff Lawyers in California for 2022. The legal publication recognized 40 lawyers across the state who used their legal skills to forge real and lasting change.

BRIAN PANISH

The feature profile on Mr. Panish highlights a $39.5 million settlement in Freeman v. Board of the Trustees of the California State University and his various leadership roles in some of the most prominent personal injury in the country including the Woolsey Fire, the Aliso Canyon Natural Gas Leak cases, and his representation of the Hutchins family in a wrongful death lawsuit following the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins by actor Alec Baldwin while on the film set of Rust.

“A lot of rules were broken for that to happen,” said Panish explaining the film crew cut corners to keep the low-budget Western on schedule.

Mr. Panish credits his successes to a willingness to learn every day.

RAHUL RAVIPUDI

The feature profile on Mr. Ravipudi highlights two recent results obtained for his Nevada clients, including a $15.95 million settlement for a 15-year-old girl who was injured when a swing set she was using on a playground broke, and an $8 million verdict in favor of a Clark County teacher who suffered significant internal injuries at a casino after he was served and ingested what he believed was a beer but was actually a cleaning compound left in the tap lines.

“This one made my head explode. The client reached out to the casino and said, ‘You poisoned me and injured me, give me $25,000,” Ravipudi said. “The offered him $20,000. So he hired a lawyer who tried to settle for one million dollars and they offered $140,000. They nickel and dimed him at every step.”

Mr. Ravipudi, who serves as Plaintiffs Co-Lead Counsel representing public entities including schools in litigation against JUUL Labs Inc., is also expected to begin trial later this year against the e-cigarette manufacturer as a result of the youth vaping epidemic targeting children.
